Seasons

  Collection Discovery video glossary

The Earth is tilted as it orbits the Sun, so the Sun's rays strike it differently according to the SEASONS. When the Sun's rays hit the Northern Hemisphere almost directly, it is summer : the Sun beats down and the days are long. When the rays come at a slanting angle, the Sun provides less heat and the days are short : it is winter.
