Smell

  Collection Health video glossary

SMELL is a function that chemically analyses odorous compounds that reach the nose. These compounds stimulate the cilia lining the nasal septum, triggering a nervous signal that is propagated to the brain via the olfactory nerve. There, the smell is identified and induces a suitable response: pleasure, hunger, disgust, etc.
