An ANTIBIOTIC is a drug that helps the organism to wipe out microbes that are attacking it. The drug destroys the walls or reproductive systems of bacteria without harming the infected cells. However, some bacteria develop a resistance to ANTIBIOTICS, compelling us to produce new ones.
