Trees

  Collection Environment video glossary

A TREE trunk is made of wood, i.e. cells assembled in rigid layers. This wood draws up water rich in mineral salts from the ground and supplies it to the leaves, where photosynthesis produces the sap that feeds the tree. In this way, trees play a role in the carbon cycle and help to balance air and ground moisture.
