Oil spill

  Collection Environment video glossary

The spilling of oil into the sea causes an OIL SLICK. Half of this oil evaporates into the atmosphere, while the other half disperses in the water in minute droplets that poison plankton and kill sea animals. Part of the oil is trapped in the sand on the sea bed. It takes years for a marine environment to recover from an oil slick.
